SUMMARY OF ROLE

 

Maxeon is seeking a Senior Certification Engineer to drive company growth, ensure timely Certification of all new launched product and yearly actualization.

The Certification Engineer will be responsible for certification activities for various SunPower products from national and international agencies like UL, TUV-Rheinland, or JET with on US, EMEA and APAC scope of requirements. 

The work includes extensive interaction internally with R&D engineers, manufacturing, sales & marketing, quality and reliability teams and externally with the certification agencies. Good negotiation skills, very organized and proficient at record keeping is a must.  Some travel to other manufacturing locations may be required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

·         Provide guidance to the development, engineering, sales, and marketing teams as it relates to efficient planning around regulatory and industry standards

·         Drive certification projects and work with the certification agencies to get closure certifications in a timely manner.

  • Maintain and communicate accurate and up-to-date certification schedules and maintain records in an efficient way.

·         Work with QA/QC at the different module factories to maintain compliance with applicable certifications and regulations

  • Communicate to stakeholders key updates in revisions to international standards and participate in standards committees for strategic initiatives.
     
  • Sustainability certs (CFP, EDP, EPBT, ROHS/REACH/TCLP)

·         Flexibility to interface with different time zones as needed.

  • Lead a team of 3 or 4 employees, prioritizing overall workflow and building team competencies.
  • Maintain summary of budget forecasts and current spend with inputs from Finance.

 

Education and Experience

·         Bachelor's/College Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Material Science Engineering, 5+ years experience in certification or reliability testing

·         Knowledge of electrical power generating systems (power/energy), preferably with specific solar electric system knowledge

·         Familiarity with PV products: modules, inverters, etc.

Skills:

  • Direct experience working with third party certification agencies – UL/TUV/CSA/Intertek
  • Familiarity with reliability and/or compliance testing
  • Very familiar with IEC & UL standards and their re-testing guidelines for Silicon PV modules
  • Capable of drafting certification test plans and negotiating with certification agencies
  • Superior organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills with development team, sales, engineering and certification agencies. Must be able to communicate effectively with internal customers.
  • Creative problem-solving abilities under pressure
  • Ability to work autonomously to meet multiple concurrent objectives and within an international team, with diverse cultures.
  • Enthusiastic team player
  • Fluent English, French/German/Mandarin a plus
  • EU or Singapore based
