Family Description:

Plans, designs, develops, evaluates, selects and orders equipment for the development of new company products and for cost-effective manufacture of existing company products. Oversees the installation, modification, upgrade and maintenance of prototype, lab, and manufacturing equipment. Maintains professional and equipment vendor networks to stay updated on trends and developments in the equipment industry. Uses study of equipment performance and reliability to improve equipment design. Establishes programs and solutions for increasing uptime and for equipment problems that affect the manufacturing process. Provides technical support to the process development, process engineering and manufacturing equipment maintenance engineering organizations. Involvement may begin at any step from laboratory-scale to pilot plant to full-scale manufacturing. Coordinates design requirement review with appropriate engineering/scientific personnel to ensure that equipment meets process, manufacturing, and safety requirements as well as operation cost targets. Designs experiments and compiles and evaluates test data to determine appropriate limits and variables for equipment design specifications. May conceive and plan projects involving definition and selection of new concepts, equipment technology, and approaches in the processing or development of new or improved processes.

  • Learns to use basic scientific or engineering concepts within a designated functional area.
  • Develops knowledge in processes and procedures specific to job function, e.g. process/ equipment qualification and development PCR, FMEA, DOE, SPC, runcards, EPR, Tool Lockdown, PV system design and construction.

    Minimum Education and Experience:

  • B.S. degree in Engineering and 0+ years of related experience
  • OR equivalent combination of education and years of related experience
