Summary of Role: 

A key player of Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) operations who will collaborate with stakeholders to ensure compliance with EHS legal requirements and Maxeon EHS Management System requirements. This position is required to perform risk assessment, execute periodic audits/inspections/monitoring and conduct trainings to employees and vendors/contractors/suppliers. The incumbent will also be interfacing with statutory bodies and external organizations on Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) matters. 

 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Interface with statutory bodies [Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH), Department of Environment (DOE), BOMBA, State Department of Pharmacy (DOP), Ministry of Health (MOH) or external organizations on routine communication, licensing  and audits/inspections.   
  • Perform duties as stipulated in Part V Duties of Safety and Health Officers of Occupational Safety and Health (Safety and Health Officer) Regulations 1997.
  • Ensure site operation is compliance with EHS legal requirements and Maxeon EHS Management System requirements.
  • Execute EHS monitoring plan such as stack emission, industrial effluent discharge, waste inventory,boundary noise, chemical health risk assessment, local exhaust ventilation, noise exposure, chemical exposure monitoring, respirator fit testing.
  • Perform risk assessment, execute periodic audits/inspections, and response to emergency situation.
  • Execute and monitor emergency drills and exercise to ensure the system is effective and efficient. Enhance ERT competency.
  • To be actively involved in risk/impact assessment with emphasis on continual improvement.

  • Any other duties assigned by the Superior or management from time to time.

 

Knowledge and Technical Skills:

  • MUST be a registered Safety & Health Officer (SHO). A DOSH registered Authorized Gas Tester (AGT), DOE Certified Environmental Professional in Scheduled Waste Management (CePSWaM) or AELB registered Radiation Protection Officer (RPO) will be an added advantage. 
  • Subject matter expert of Malaysia regulations (OSHA Act 1994, FMA 1967, Poison Act 1952, Atomic Energy Licensing Act 1984, Fire Service Act 1988, Uniform Building By-Laws 1984 and Environmental Quality Act 1974) and EHS Management System (ISO14001, ISO45001) with experience in management system audits.
  • Knowledgeable in

           a) occupational safety programs (e.g. HIRARC/JHA, equipment safety, Lock-out Tag-out, process safety, confined space), contractor safety (e.g. working at

               height, permit to work, powered industrial truck) and emergency response programs (e.g. evacuation, fire prevention system, firefighting system, gas

               monitoring system, chemical spill)

           b) industrial hygiene programs (e.g. chemical management, ventilation, Personal Protective Equipment, exposure assessment, hazard communication, indoor

               air quality, radiation safety, hearing conservation)

           c) business continuity programs and

           d) environmental and sustainability programs (e.g. Environmental Mainstreaming Tools, resource conservation)

  • Practical hands on approach on contractor safety management.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Excel (Conditional Formatting, Pivot tables & Pivot Reporting, Data Table) and Power point.
  • The successful candidate must have the project management skill, ability to meet tight deadlines, have strong interpersonal and communication skills, be detail oriented, demonstrate effective problem solving and have the ability to work independently under minimum supervision.

 

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Environmental, Health and Safety, Occupational Safety and Health, Engineering (Environmental, Chemical, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical) or Science.
  • More than 3 years (Bachelor Degree) or >2 years (Master Degree) related working experience. Prior work experience in fab manufacturing environment will be an added advantage.
