SUMMARY OF ROLE

Maxeon is seeking a Commercial Counsel to join Maxeon’s Legal Department. This role will lead customer-facing activities for the company in the US and LATAM and will provide support to other jurisdictions on an as-needs basis. This is a truly unique opportunity to be regional counsel at a high-profile NASDAQ-listed solar company involved in some of the most significant renewables projects in the world. This role will interface regularly with Maxeon’s executive leadership team, providing excellent legal advice and counsel on a broad range of critical business initiatives.  This is a remote position, but the ideal candidate will be based in Texas, Mexico City, or Florida, with consideration given to other locations in the region.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead Maxeon’s commercial transactions efforts in the region in support of the sales and marketing organization, including revenue contracts, business development, strategy, distribution programs, dealer programs, and marketing
  • Apply practical experience to help shape business and legal terms, deal structures, and transaction processes for Maxeon in the region
  • Support the operations team on after-sales activities related to customer support and warranty claims
  • Advise Maxeon’s executive team on key renewables and solar policy matters in the region
  • Provide advice and counsel to business team leaders, in consultation with external counsel as necessary, with respect to disputes, tax, import, litigation, and local labor issues
  • Collaborate with the supply chain organization and with our technology team to ensure seamless execution of customer contracts.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Maxeon counsel around the globe to ensure agreements are consistent with internal policies, practices, and processes
  • Develop, maintain and continuously refine forms, playbooks, training, policies, processes, procedures, and other tools important to the efficient and effective support for the business
  • Develop and implement training programs for the sales, marketing, and operations organizations on agreement forms, playbooks, provisions, negotiation best practices and tactics, recent legal trends, and other relevant legal and sales enablement issues

 

RELATED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Qualified to practice law in the US or Mexico.
  • Education from top-tier universities with exceptional academic credentials
  • 4 years of   relevant experience, including training at a leading law firm in commercial transactions
  • Experience in energy, EPC, O&M, or renewables projects is a strong plus.
  • Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally and to engage effectively with all levels of employees and management, balancing multiple client demands
  • Have excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
  • Experience building successful relationships and trust across a diverse range of cultures, both internally and externally
  • Be detail-oriented, organized, efficient, and resourceful with strong follow-through skills, with a passion for results
  • Be highly analytical and have an exceptional business and legal issue identification and problem-solving skills
  • Have impeccable professional ethics, integrity, and judgment, naturally adhering to Maxeon’s value of Holding Ourselves to a Higher Standard
  • Entrepreneurial, curious, with exceptional strategic and problem-solving skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, demanding, and sometimes unstructured environment
  • Have a strong desire to learn the business and new areas of law across multiple jurisdictions and to function  integrally as part of an interdisciplinary team

  • In this role, one could be spending extended periods of time moving, traversing, and remaining stationary all for extended periods of time

  • Able to use and learn standard office equipment and technology with proficiency
  • The position requires travel with the potential of overnight stays between assigned facilities and various locations within the community. Less than or equal to 25% travel.
  • Day-to-day work is completed in the office on a personal computer M-F, first shift hours
  • Ambient noise level is usually quiet, consisting of normal conversations, business machines, and telephones, but occasionally may be above average for portions of the business day
