We are seeking a bright and self-motivated candidate to lead our Module Equipment Development Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the development of new equipment and manufacturing line design. The team utilizes both in-house equipment design/development and partnerships with equipment integration partners.  



  • Manages a team of design and development engineers and provides the technical guidance to deliver projects that meet schedule and within budget.
  • Own the automation roadmap based on factory needs and industry trends and innovation
  • Own the ROI analyses and budget for all projects.
  • Ability to analyze factory needs using factory performance data and collect voice of customer project requests.
  • Plan, design, develop, evaluate, select, and order equipment/application for the development of new company products and/or cost-effective manufacture of existing company products.
  • Oversees the specification, design, outsourced fabrication job, installation, qualification, ramp-up, and troubleshooting of manufacturing equipment/application.
  • Present projects proposal to steering committee and upper management.
  • Deliver committed projects per schedule.
  • Ensure appropriate monitoring, reporting systems and procedures are in place to meet objectives and timeline.
  • Escalate timely and initiate alignment meetings when there is a stalemate/roadblock that requires higher-level management intervention/decision/risk buy.
  • Sends regular high-level project updates to management and stakeholders with regard to project health, schedule, and issues on hand.
  • Supervision: Provide direct reports with project objectives. Engaged in career development plans with direct reports and provides feedback on team performance against goals.
  • Delegating: Able to structure very complex projects and direct multiple project leaders/supervisors concurrently.
  • Complies at all times the Environment, Health and Safety and Manufacturing Quality standards, rules and regulations
  • Performs other duties may be assigned



  • Educational Background:
    • BS in IE or mechanical design or robotics or another pertinent discipline. MS preferred.
    • Tier 1 university.
  • Work Experience:
    • At least 10 years of experience working in equipment development in a manufacturing environment.
    • Minimum 5 years of experience managing a team of design and development engineers.
    • Strong background in industrial engineering and manufacturing metrics.
    • Proven ability to build a strong and technically competent engineering team.
    • Solar Module experience preferred
  • Background in Equipment/Line design, Project lead, Business Processes, IE, Sustaining.
  • Background in Process troubleshooting and continuous improvement methods.
  • Background in manufacturing performance metrics and industrial engineering.
  • Proven track of development of complex factory line designs and equipment projects.
  • Capable of cross-functional teamwork with RnD Dept, NPI, BOM cost dept, for new equipment, process development, or troubleshooting with local process engineering, operations, and maintenance teams.
  • Familiar with current trends in modern factory equipment and line design.
    • A big plus would be experienced with big data and machine learnings and how to incorporate this into smart line design and equipment.
  • Expertise with software such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks
  • Lean basics such as VSM, MUDA, 6M, PDCA, etc
  • Project management skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects.
    • Work breakdown structure, Gantt chart, facilitating effective meetings, stakeholder management.
    • Risk identification and mitigation.
    • Prioritization tools:
      • Zero-based budgeting (ZBB) 
      • Cost-benefit analysis
      • Action priority matrix
