Maxeon seeks a Sr. Staff Engineer. This person should be an independent thinker and self-driven individual with demonstrated ability to deliver results under a demanding environment and timeline. In this role, the candidate will be responsible for the development of next-generation technologies for module manufacturing.


The successful candidate will be responsible for the exploration, down-selection, and qualification of equipment and materials in photovoltaic (PV) modules to meet quality, reliability, cost, safety, and manufacturability targets. Will work directly with product engineering, purchasing/buyer, operations, and engineering deployment groups to successfully install equipment and certify the material for use in high-volume manufacturing. Will extend support to process development engineers to help define, develop and optimize processes for manufacturing and assembly of new material-related components. The candidate must fully understand qualification testing requirements and be able to effectively manage multiple project tasks and work effectively in a cross-functional team. Other responsibilities include timely resolution of technical and quality issues, managing supplier changes, and developing materials/equipment spec and qualification test plans (QTP).

Education and Experience

  • Mandarin Speaker is a must
  • BS/MS in Mechanics, Electrical or Electronics, or related engineering fields
  • Experience in Photovoltaics and/or Semiconductor industry is required, preferably in the technology development environment.
  • Experience with developing and reliability testing of materials for module assembly desired.


  • Above-average communication, written, and presentation skills.

  • Ability to lead technology/quality task force. Proven problem-solving skills and ability to lead cross-functional teams thru effective meeting management. Demonstrates analytical thinking and challenges others’ opinions by speaking up.
  • Computer/software knowledge. Knowledge of MS Office tools, statistical analysis of data (e.g. JMP), and Xcel macros.

    • Results-oriented.
    • Keeps to the objectives unless necessary to change, then communicates changes to all involved.
    •  Tracks projects to the schedule. Leverages others to help. Schedules project before launching them. Clearly states and communicates objectives. Develops project plan independently. Covers all issues when planning projects (Cost, ROI, Justification, Critical paths, etc.). Uncovers dependencies before executing the project.
  • Self-management skills.
    • Elevates issues when appropriate. Ensures that stakeholders are aware of critical and potential problems.
    • Anticipates what might go wrong when planning implementations. Finds ways to improve the process.
    • Assumes responsibility, not just for own area, but upstream and downstream areas too. Appropriately accepts responsibility for failures. Follows up with key partners to ensure clear priorities. Documents and shares findings ‘key learnings with the group.
  • Be willing to travel (internationally) for business trips with short notice.
  • Others: Displays passion for learning/discovering new things and knows how to bring positive energy into the team thru superior interpersonal skills. Always seeking improvements ( technical, personal, or soft skills) in oneself and welcomes challenges by setting higher goals.
