Application Deadline: October 13th, 2023

Roles are available within the following engineering functions:

  • The IBC Process team is responsible for developing and demonstrating the process steps required to fabricate IBC cell technologies. We have sub-teams focused on specific process technologies including wet chemical, diffusion, thin films, patterning and metrology. We work closely with the Architecture Team and Metallization Group to develop the process steps they need. Our work spans from Lab-based ideation through to Pilot-line demonstration of a first-scalable unit capable of high-volume manufacturing.
  • The IBC metallization team works to increase efficiency and cut the cost of the world’s best solar cells through innovative approaches to cell and module metallization.  We are a cross-functional team of process, equipment, and reliability engineers who produce solutions using rapid prototyping, robust process development, failure analysis, modeling, and accelerated stress tests in the lab to design and deploy processes and equipment at pilot scale in our high-volume factories.
  • The Software team builds all kinds of automation control, vision and image systems and otherwise general software for R&D projects all the way up to the 24/7 stuff that runs in the Fabs and Modcos.
  • The P-Series R&D and Reliability team in San Jose is responsible for design for performance and reliability for all of Maxeon’s future P-Series solar modules. They are responsible for coming up with state-of-the-art module packaging designs for front contact solar cells, as well as developing methods to test the cell and module designs to ensure performance,  reliability, and safety.  They collaborate with R&D and operations teams at multiple factories globally with a total production capacity of over 20 GW/year.  Much of the work is hands-on lab work and data analysis.

*IBC (Interdigitated Back Contact) is a type of solar cell that places the contacts on the rear instead of the front.
