Maxeon is seeking an Applications Engineer to drive company growth, ensure pre and post sales customer satisfaction and enhance sales cycle and sales closure rate on opportunities within the Americas region. This individual will be responsible for managing technical/product project qualification, proposal requirements, and performing technical feasibility & due diligence for new large scale, commercial and residential scale opportunities. This position will work closely with the regional products, supply chain/operations and business development teams to enhance the Maxeon value proposition. The Applications Engineer position is responsible for identifying the most appropriate technical and material solutions, per program or regional incentives, or other variables to value optimize the client solution. In addition they will be responsible for assuring customers and their independent engineers have all the appropriate technical and product information required for their due diligence on our product offering.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide technical and engineering assessment to large projects and our partner channel, validating design requirements for local conditions, recommending solutions and validating the most appropriate design and material solutions
  • Provide technical support to partners and internal teams on integration of our products including QA issues
  • Knowledge of local installation and country specific regulations which will aid in development of new products
  • Prepare any necessary customer deliverables, such as conceptual layouts, single line diagrams, recommend equipment specifications, review mechanical or electrical sheet sets, or material specifications and engineering validation as requested. Clearly communicate design concept and high-level system specifications
  • Coordinate and engage with BOS (Balance of System) suppliers on new product developments and evaluate the mechanical and electrical compatibility with PV modules
  • Perform site visits and assist with customer meetings to support sales opportunities.
  • Be the key technical person on driving due diligence and supporting RFPs or similar with Sales and Operations groups with customer communication
  • Assist the after-sales group with performance analysis and potential root cause of items of concern where required
  • Provide technical guidelines & documentation and develop performance validation models
  • Support sample delivery to customers, racking suppliers and third-party laboratories for testing
  • utilizing modeling tools such as PVsyst, Helioscope, OpenSolar and other performance estimating tools,
  • Coordinate  with other departments to provide best estimating for LCOE analysis, financial modeling tools, or material optimizing methods

Related Experience and Educational Requirements

  • Technical PV support is required, including AutoCAD and PVsyst software
  • Excellent knowledge of standards including NEC codes, UL/IEC certifications
  • Experience in energy ecosystem, including storage and power electronics is a plus
  • Strong computer skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Excellent writing skills, both creative and technical.
  • Customer facing presentation skills and previous External sales support and client management experience preferred.
  • Self-driven and self-motivated on engaging and managing tasks
  • Creative problem-solving abilities under pressure
  • Ability to work autonomously to meet multiple concurrent objectives and within an international team, with diverse cultures.
  • Some travel to site and customer locations to be expected.
  • Bachelor of Science, preferably Renewable Energy, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering
  • Preferred 5-7 years experience in Solar PV industry and Solar installation and system level experience  OR equivalent combination of education and years of related experience
  • At least  3 years of experience in a solar related field
