Wafer Engineering Manager

 

The Wafer Engineering Manager is expected to lead Si engineer team to achieve the new crystalline silicon technologies (poly, ingot, and wafer) development to continuously drive down silicon cost and improve silicon performance for company’s wafer supply. The responsibilities will include Silicon Engineering project management, co-work with Cell/Module R&D team as well as the Manufacturing team in cell fabs in Silicon technology development and deployment, solution for new cell and module technologies.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Create/plan Si wafer specification, Si technology roadmap
  • Lead Si team to collaborate with corporate partner’s Si R&D team to execute development programs.
  • Understand Si supply partners’ technology and performance, integrate Si vendors’ cost reduction efforts into Maxeon’s solar cell fab.
  • Communicate with and drive vendors/partners for equipment/material development.
  • Independently plan and execute experiments/development projects to solve key technical issues associated with ingot growth / wafering / product integration.
  • Provide Si wafer cost model analysis and Si wafer market intelligence analysis
  • Collaborate with Cell/Module/Reliability R&D teams in silicon technology deployment and integration.
  • Interface and coordinate with R&D, Operations, and Reliability groups on next technology platform requirements.
  • Trouble shoot Si wafer related issue in solar cell fab and able to work with suppliers to solve wafer quality issue
  • Provide Si wafer, solar cell insight for other solar cell fab activity
  • Work with business processes as required meeting project objectives and timelines.

 

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum M.S. degree with 3~5 years of experiences, or Ph.D. degree with 0~3 years of experiences, in related science/engineering fields.
  • Have sufficient working experiences in PV field with fundamental knowledge in Si/cell technology and processes.
  • Solid experience with or have good understanding of industrial CZ Si ingoting (both n type and p type), diamond wire slicing technology and poly Si process
  • Solid experience with solar cell fab DOE, engineer change qualification procedure, FMEA and MRB tools
  • Good understanding on Si wafer based solar cell theory(at least PERC and Topcon), capable of result interpretation and provide diagnose/improvement action for wafer vendor
  • Familiar with or understand Si ingot, wafer and solar cell characterization tools, such Sinton lifetime tester, halm tester, SunsVoc, PL, EL, wafer AOI, SEM, TEM
  • Communicate with and drive vendors/partners for equipment/technology development.
  • Independently plan and execute experiments/development projects to solve key technical issues associated with ingot growth/wafering/product integration.
  • A team leader with the ability to leverage internal and external capabilities by working closely with cross-function teams from other technical disciplines.
  • Problem solver, strong analytical/statistical skills.
  • Good presentation, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, quick learner, organized, and attentively.

 

Preferred Requirements:

  • Ph.D. degree with 2~5 years of industrial experiences in PV science/engineering fields.
  • Expert knowledge and experiences in crystalline Si inspection, metrology and analytical methods.
  • Solid understanding of Si wafering/cell/module processes.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated achievements and R&D project management experiences in the silicon process technology (poly, ingot, and wafer).
  • Familiar with or understand Si ingot, wafer and solar cell characterization tools, such Sinton lifetime tester, halm tester, SunsVoc, PL, EL, wafer AOI, SEM, TEM
  • Good business sense and able to understand and support business strategy and execution.
  • Fluent in English is a must, fluent in Mandarin Chinese is a plus
