Summary Role: 

Maxeon is seeking a world-class Research, Development, and Deployment (RD&D) Engineer based in Singapore. It is expected that most of this work will be carried out at a new state-of-the-art Maxeon RD&D Laboratory to be created in Singapore. Job responsibilities include research and development of new solar technology that pushes the limit of efficiency at lower cost, working closely with Maxeon’s renowned US-based R&D team, and supporting existing teams in deploying and optimizing solar technology at Maxeon’s factories. This work is expected to include both cell and module technology development for Maxeon’s advanced product portfolio. The goal of these activities is to support Maxeon’s business objectives, including market expansion, with targeted advanced technology.



  • Work closely with US R&D and fab/modco teams to develop and help deploy advanced high efficiency state of the art module products using next-generation manufacturing technologies
  • Deliver significant innovation that enhances Maxeon’s performance advantage, while reducing manufacturing cost and capital cost
  • Help develop company technology and product goals, plan technology projects and deliver these goals using the Maxeon business processes
  • Work closely with Maxeon organizations outside of the Singapore location
  • Optimize PV module manufacturing processes as well as develop and qualify new processes as required
  • Develop a manufacturable process for the non-conventional module with selected materials
  • Ensure that your project milestones and deliverables are met, delivered on time, and adhere to approved budgets
  • Provide excellent communication within Maxeon to facilitate tracking and coordinating technology and product development goals and milestones
  • Complies at all times the Environment, Health and Safety and Manufacturing Quality standards, rules and regulations
  • Performs other duties may be assigned 




Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS degree with at least 2 years additional relevant R&D experience or equivalent
  • Proven track record of significant advanced Solar PV innovation
  • Strong process and characterization skills in solar modules
  • Knowledge of JMP or equivalent data analysis tool
  • Able to work in a lab environment, design and execute experiments, collect and analyze data, and report experimental results
  • Demonstrate strong technical knowledge and the ability to solve cross-disciplinary problems
  • Quick learner, independent, able to work and deliver results with minimum supervision
  • Willing to travel in Asia and US up to 40% of the time
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills


Preferred requirements

  • Experience in qualifying new processes
  • Proven record of working very effectively with multiple organizations both within a company and outside the company
  • PV technology R&D breadth encompassing both cell and module technology
  • Knowledge of highly accelerated life tests such as damp heat, thermal cycling, UV exposure, and lifetime modeling
  • Familiarity with solar cell factory production and solar panel manufacturing
  • Expert knowledge of PV module materials and composites
  • Knowledge of PV cell and module reliability, including modeling and testing
  • Demonstrates technical process/equipment expertise
  • Suggests alternative solutions to complex issues
  • Good understanding of people and project management principles
  • Knowledge of laboratory and equipment safety standards



  • Tools of Trade (Upon approval of Hiring Managers): Desktop or Laptop, Cisco phone, and wireless headset, various software applications
