SUMMARY OF ROLE

Maxeon is seeking a Lab Operations & Facilities Engineer for our Singapore R&D Lab. This position reports to the Lab Operations & Facilities Manager and will be responsible for supporting building management (R&D lab engineering/operations and offices) and sustaining facilities utility systems. This role will also assist with and monitor the design and build of the R&D lab facilities and lab spaces in Singapore.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Include the following (other duties may be assigned)

  • Help design and build the Singapore RD&D lab facilities, including monitoring progress
  • Assist in managing R&D Lab and office spaces:
    • Take part in upkeep, maintenance schedule, modifications, and upgrades of facilities and lab
    • Respond and troubleshoot issues/interruptions and emergencies
    • Communicate with and manage vendors, consultants, contractors, landlords, while liaising with R&D tool owners. Disseminate complex and technical information to relevant stakeholders
    • Contribute to facilities budget planning and project tracking. Resolve issues to meet timelines and budget. Participate in cost-saving initiatives
    • Work with Procurement and R&D Teams to generate project/hook-up specifications, tender document preparation, and evaluation
    • Ordering of materials and consumables (e.g. gases, chemicals, lab consumables)
    • Prepare and review SOPs, risk assessments, work permits, LOTO, impact assessment, training, etc.
    • Ensure that facilities meet government regulations and environmental, health and security standards
    • Perform routine safety inspections and recommend improvement measures
    • General building maintenance, cleanroom management
    • Security, janitorial, and waste management
  • Hands-on facilities utility management for all lab equipment:
    • Understand and collect relevant facility and equipment data
    • Maintain Facility Utility Matrix, lab and equipment layouts, records, and documentation
    • Coordinate Lab Equipment move-in and installation (tool hook-up), site acceptance testing
    • Process chemical and gas management
    • Toxic gas monitoring system (Life Safety System), Facility Management and Control System/SCADA, Fire alarm system management
    • Experience in the design/maintenance, installation of distribution piping, valve manifold boxes, gas cabinets, chemical supply pumping systems for hazardous and high purity chemicals and gases
    • Experience and understanding of safety/environmental requirements for hazardous materials
    • Attend meetings as required to resolve/troubleshoot problems
  • General support of R&D Lab daily operations
  • General support of EH&S and ER Teams
  • Support implementation of business continuity/recovery and crisis management

 

RELATED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (Engineering or related field).
  • 8+ years of experience in Facilities Engineer or equivalent position.
  • Experience with cleanrooms and Semiconductor-type process utilities, including installation, testing, and commissioning of HVAC systems, bulk and toxic/hazardous gases, abatement and exhaust systems, chemicals, DI & process cooling water, wastewater treatment, electricals, etc.
  • Experience with Facilities design and build projects & tool installation (hook-up).
  • Proficient with Auto-CAD, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Ability to interpret engineering drawings.
  • Ability to generate regular summary reports, presentations, specifications, etc.
  • Hands-on approach and ability to troubleshoot problems and address root causes.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, in English
