SUMMARY OF ROLE

 

SunPower Japan KK is looking for a Business Development Manager for the residential solar market in Japan. The position will be located out of SunPower’s Tokyo office and will report to the Managing Director. This role will focus on developing sales channels for Maxeon products into residential applications across Japan. We are seeking an individual with experience in developing and fostering a growing business through indirect channels. The ideal candidate will have experience with the homebuilding industry, B2B sales, administration and fostering strong partnerships and relationships. Having experience with solar solutions is an advantage but not a pre-requisite.   

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Include the following (other duties may be assigned):

 

  • Develop strategy for the growth in the residential market, create action plans, and implement the strategy.
  • To grow market and increase share within an indirect channel that includes homebuilding channel, deliver on shipment and lead targets in region, and accomplish specific Key Results.
  • In person customer meetings, frequent conference calls, emails, inbound and outbound calling.
  • Data and information collection necessary to launch sales programs with new and existing customers.
  • Document account level processes, specific requirements and decision makers responsible to supporting SunPower program requirements. Development of training guidelines for use in communicating SunPower program requirements.
  • Activation of new home community sales campaigns, successful hand-off to inside sales team.
  • Day to day information gathering, problem solving and communication regarding customer inquiries, operational delays, inside sales activities and level one escalations.
  • First line support to cross-functional team members
  • Review of monthly reports with Managing Director to identify issues and opportunities inhibiting business unit success factors.

 

Minimum Requirements

 

  • Entrepreneurship.
  • BA/BS, with minimum 5 years related work experience.
  • Sales and Marketing activities, minimum 5 years.
  • Ability to communicate in English (speaking, reading and writing)
  • Native Japanese

 

Preferred Requirements

 

  • Demonstrated track record working independently in outside sales, or similar roles
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including oral and written communication, with proven ability to build rapport and establish strong relationships
  • Demonstrated track record of producing tangible results in a competitive and rapidly growing market
  • General understanding of the Japanese energy market and the value of solar in residential applications
  • Strong computer skills, including, MS Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Highly organized and able to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Developing and delivering presentations to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • A strong desire to be a part of a rapidly growing business with an opportunity to progress in the sales team.
  • Position will be based in the SunPower Tokyo office, with approximately 25% regional travel.
  • Flexible work hours and willingness to work outside standard business hours.
